A man has been killed after being hit by a car at a dealership in Worcester.
Police have named Chris Willmott, 48, as the pedestrian who died in the early hours of Friday 1 August. Mr Willmott was walking by Ford Bristol Street Motors in Cotswold Way with a group of people when he was run over by a vehicle, which then careered into a lamppost and several cars on the forecourt.
The tragic death of Mr Willmott will overshadow the damage done to Bristol Street Motors, but for the car dealership it will be important that they have a quality motor trade insurance policy in place to ensure they are covered against the costs incurred by the event.
Adam Sandford, manager at Bristol Street Motors, said: "There was damage to one car. It was a bit of a shock; we didn't expect to get that.
"I had a phone call at 2.30am this morning to tell me what had happened. Someone has died, it's shocking really. It's unlucky really at that time in the morning, the car may have been travelling fast as there are skid marks in the road."
An ambulance was called to the scene but Mr Willmott was announced dead shortly after. The Worcester News has reported that a 34-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the incident on suspicion of dangerous driving.
