What is Motorcycle Trader Insurance?
If you’re buying and selling, servicing or repairing motorbikes for a living, then you need the appropriate insurance to protect your bikes and your business. That’s why you need motorcycle trader insurance.
Whether you’re a bike dealer with business premises or just buy and sell motorbikes on a part-time basis working from home, a good motorbike trader insurance policy takes account of what you do and helps to cover you for the risks you face.
Why do motorbike traders need insurance?
Working with bikes, rather than owning them for personal use, legally requires motor trade insurance.
To ride bikes on the road in connection with your business, you’ll need road risks insurance. This will allow you to pick up bikes and ride them to your home or business address, with third-party only, third-party fire and theft and comprehensive cover available.
Road risks insurance also allows you to road test motorcycles following service or repairs.
You can extend motorcycle road risks cover to include accompanied demonstration cover, allowing somebody who wishes to purchase a bike to test ride it while you ride alongside them.
Consider insurance for any buildings you lease or own, and any contents in them (including tools and equipment). These can be covered with a motorbike traders combined policy.
There’s also liability insurance to consider for members of the public, cover for any employees you might have, and cover for stock of vehicles if you have business premises you work from. All of these can be included in a traders combined policy – or you can purchase employers’ liability and public liability insurance alongside a road risks only policy, too.
