The owner of a car dealership in Arbroath, Scotland is offering a £500 reward for anyone who helps him track the vandals that have caused thousands of pounds of damage to his business.
Mackie Motors on Montrose Road says that between £2,000 and £3,000 worth of damage was caused by the vandals throwing stones at their forecourt. Several vehicles were damaged in the incident and although these have now been repaired, the dealership boss wants to ensure those responsible are brought to justice, the Arbroath Herald reported.
Some criminals steal goods for their own financial gains while others simply damage them for seemingly no purpose. Whatever the motivation, a car dealership or garage ought to have a combined motor trade insurance policy in place that will offer suitable insurance cover for the valuable items they store on their premises, whether that is customers' vehicles, cars they are selling, spare parts, tools or equipment.
However, for Kevin Mackie, the managing director of Mackie Motors, covering the cost of the damage is just one part of the process. He said: “I’m very disappointed with what’s happened. I find it difficult to understand that in 2015 throwing stones to smash windows and damage cars is seen as some sort of activity for these teenagers.
“I am willing to offer a £500 reward for anyone that has information leading to prosecution.”
