A car garage in Amersham has reassured its customers that the business will not be closing despite a developer revealing plans to build retirement flats on the site.
The lease owned by CSG Amersham for its Broadway site runs until the end of 2019 and the car repair centre says it will not be going anywhere until that date. The announcement comes after McCarthy and Stone held a public exhibition this week to present its design for the new retirement homes it is hoping to build on the premises once the lease expires, Bucks Free Press reported.
Car mechanics can protect against most threats on their business by obtaining a road risks insurance or motor trade insurance policy. This will provide cover for the company's assets and premises in case of damage or theft. It cannot, however, protect a business that is dislodged from its trading premises because its lease has run out.
Jason Holt, director at CSG Amersham, said: “We've got no intention to move. Our lease on the site is current until December 2019.
“We also own other sites and property locally. If, in the distant future, we do need to leave 59-61 The Broadway, we will not be closing and we would not be moving far. CSG Motor Company Ltd is a local company who has invested a great deal of money and effort in looking after local customers – which we will continue to do.”
