Arnold Clark has won an accolade for its attempts to help young people get on the first rung of the employment ladder.
Developing the Young Workforce Glasgow has recognised the dealership chain as Employer of the Month for December. The award was given after the firm filed 267 apprenticeship vacancies over the past year, while also offering 238 young people the chance to enjoy work experience at one of its sites.
As part of its efforts, Arnold Clark has worked alongside local schools, helping to promote the car industry as a future employment option for school-leavers. It has worked in tandem with the Prince's Trust for the past nine years.
Taking on and training up young employees is a great way to build a workforce that has the skills that your dealership needs to flourish and rise above the competition. When taking on new staff it is vital to include this in your motor trade insurance policy.
Arnold Clark's apprenticeship recruitment manager, Suzanne Sherry, welcomed the accolade. She said: "We are very proud to have been awarded Employer of the Month by DYW Glasgow. It’s a great honour to be recognised for the work that we do. Young people are a fantastic asset to our company and we are committed to giving them learning opportunities and career prospects that reflect this."
The news of the award was also welcomed by Alison McRae, senior director of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, who said: "It is great to see a local company nurturing and supporting the talent of young people, and the accolade is well deserved."
