A pair of brazen thieves have walked into a Hertfordshire car dealership in the middle of the day and stolen two Mercedes E220s.
The high-value vehicles were taken from the showroom in John Tate Road between 2.30pm and 3.15pm on 13 September. Police say the two men walked into the dealership and took a set of keys before walking out to the car park and driving the German car away, only to return and repeat the process a second time.
Traders will always need protection from thieves, however audacious or cunning they might be, which is why it is imperative they have a high quality combined motor trade insurance policy in place; this will offer cover for the vehicles stored on site in case they are stolen. This story also illustrates the value of risk management consultancy services – something Bollington can provide – as experts can help ensure robberies like this are not as easy to pull off by implementing best practice security measures.
According to the Hertfordshire Mercury, the two stolen Mercedes have a combined market value of £60,000. Police have released CCTV images and are requesting anyone who recognises the men or has any knowledge of the incident to come forward.
Detective constable Shaun Turner, who is investigating, said: “We would like to speak to the men pictured as they may have information which could assist our investigation.
“If you recognise them, or remember seeing them in the area at the time then please get in contact with me.”
