Car dealerships throughout the UK will, from this summer, be able to sell Ford's most powerful Fiesta to date, the ST200, which is able to cover 0-62mph is an impressive 6.7 seconds.
The much-awaited ST200 model has a 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, which is capable of producing 20 per cent more torque and 10 per cent more power than previous models. Fuel economy on the model isn't the best, at 46.3mpg, but this is not all that surprising in light of its powerful performance.
Dealerships hoping to add the ST200 to their forecourts this summer will need to make sure their motor trade insurance and road risks insurance policies are updated to include the addition of this premium Fiesta.
As well as the quicker acceleration, the ST200 also boasts improved suspension and optimised steering, which results in better handling. It is available in Storm Grey only, with black and red callipers and 17-inch ST alloys. There are a few small changes to the interior, to upgrade the model from the standard ST, such as contrasting silver stitching and partial leather Recaro front seats.
The price tag on the model, which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, is £22,745. The release of the ST200 in the UK comes as the Ford brand celebrates 40 years of the Fiesta.
Vice president for marketing, sales and service at Ford Europe Roelant de Waard stated: “With our new ST-Line range even more customers can experience sporty style and driving dynamics inspired by our most exciting Ford Performance line-up ever, that includes models such as the Focus RS, new Fiesta ST200 and Ford GT supercar.
“This year we expect to sell 40,000 performance cars in Europe, a 50 per cent increase compared with 2015, which in turn saw performance car sales rise by 61 per cent compared with 2014.”
